The volume VA (ml) of the CA (ppm) solution required to dilute the CA (ppm) solution to CB (ppm) and VB (ml) can be calculated as follows.

Volume of solute in CA (ppm) solution VA (ml)

VSA = CA*VA*10^(-6)

Volume of solute in CB (ppm) solution VB (ml)

VSB = CB*VB*10^(-6)

Since the volume of the solute is the same VSA = VSB, the following relationship holds.

CA*VA = CB*VB

Therefore, the VA of the CA (ppm) solution required is

VA = (1/CA)*CB*VB

VA = (1/CA)*CB*VB
