2 moles sodium molecules react with 2 moles of hydrogen chloride molecule to make 2 moles of sodium chloride molecules and 1 mole of hydrogen molecules.

2Na + 2HCl ¡æ 2NaCl + H2

When the mass and atomic weight of the sodium used in the reaction are mNa and wNa respectively :
¢¹ Mole number of sodium is : MNa = mNa/wNa
¢¹ Letting the molecular weight of hydrogen chloride as wHCl, then mass of hydrogen chloride required for reaction is : mHCl = MNa*wHCl
¢¹ Letting the molecular weight of sodium chloride as wNaCl, then the mass of sodium chloride made by reaction is : mNaCl = MNa*wNaCl
¢¹ Letting the molecular weight of hydrogen molecule as wH2, then the mass of hydrogen molecule made by reaction is : mH2 = MNa*(1/2)*wH2

The following formula is used to calculate the mass of hydrogen chloride, sodium chloride, and hydrogen depending on the mass of sodium, by inputting the molecular weight.

mR = mNa/wNa * (wHCl + wNaCl + (1/2)*wH2)
