Resultant resistance, series and parallel connection

For a circuit, shown in figure, having series and parallel connections, the resultant resistance is calculated as below.

Since the resultant resistance for the parallel connection is (R2*R3)/(R2+R3), the resultant resistance of the circuit is obtained by adding the resistance R1 in series connection.

Rt = R1 + (R2*R3)/(R2+R3)
