If the noise magnitude at the distance D1 (m) from the sound source is S1 dB, then the noise magnitude at the distance D2 is calculated as below :

1. Sound Intensity LI

 LI = (1/2)ln(I/I0) Np = log(I/I0) B = 10*log(I/I0) dB

 I : intensity of sound
 I0 : Intensity of reference sound

2. I is inversely proportional to the square of distance.
 I(r) ¡ð 1/r^2,  where r is the distance.

 I2 = I1 / (D2/D1)^2 ¡æ I2/I1 = 1/(D2/D1)^2 = (D1/D2)^2

Then,

 S1 = 10*log(I1/I0) dB
 S2 = 10*log(I2/I0) dB
 S2-S1 = 10*(log(I2/I0)-log(I1/I0)) = 10log(I2/I1)
 S2 = S1+20*log(D1/D2) dB
